Before my DVR cable company offers for rent, I bought a ReplayTV DVR in 2000. The problem with him is that there is very limited, only one tuner, and could not be saved "Digital Networks", available from my cable company. When started my cable company DVRs, I had an instant. He had two tuners, more storage space, and I was able to record all digital channels. Besides the fact that the cost of only $ 6 per month.
In the U.S. you can get 3rd-party DVR, like TiVo, which can work with the field from your supplier or directly with the cable or antenna.
In general, do not sell satellite providers, their equipment and may make the possession of "stolen their" Computers take over.
